A robot is a machine capable of carrying out a complex series action automatically, especially the one that programmed by computer. Robots can do many things and something that human can't do, such as exploring outside the Earth, memorize history and so on. However, having robots have both advantages and disadvantages.
Having a robot is a good thing because it can help you do things which you can't able to do.
Here is the benefits of Robots:
Productivity
They can do more accurate than human
They can work as higher quality.
Safety
Robots save workers from performing dangerous tasks.
They can work in dangerous condition, such as toxic chemicals or poor lighting.
They can life heavy loads without injury.
Savings
Robots can produce higher quality in a short amount of time.
Robots would not get injured to spend money to cure.
Having robots is so coooooooool! HOWEVER, it also has disadvantages, such as:
Having robots is so coooooooool! HOWEVER, it also has disadvantages, such as:
Workers have to learn how to control the robots
They would not work when there is no electricity power.
They might take over human's control
They will replace workers, which will increase unemployment rate.
What happens to society when robots replace workers?
To demonstrate this issue, Henry Adams, the historian, measured technological progress by the power generated from coal, and estimated that power output doubled every ten years between 1840 and 1900 [...] "By contrast, progress today comes rapidly. [...] The progress are embedded in the creation of intelligent machines, from robots to automobiles to drones, that will soon DOMINATE the global economy- and in the progress drive down the value of human labor with astonishing speed." (www.hbr.org).

Nowadays, Robotic arms ad other factory machinery are very common, and these robots may perform specific duties or more tasks.
They may take place in schools, military organization, or medical facilities.
Outside practical uses, they are also used for play, compete and entertainment.

My own opinion
After all, this world needs robots, because it can help people to do things which they do not have ability to do so, According to www.scmp.com, "With population and productivity growth slowing, the labor force shrinking in countries including China, and opposition to immigration, robots are not a threat nut a necessity for all but the poorest nations." Based on my opinion, I think that people need robots because of they can work in dangerous condition, and they have repetitive and high-precision work; robots work without breaks or the need to sleep or eat. However, robots are dangerous in some ways. For example, they can attack internet and become a cyber hacker that can hack and spread other people's privacy. As a result, I still approve that this world need robots, not as a tool, but as friends.
Here is a robot that me and my teammates made together, it is for compete with other robots through "Pick up Ball and Score" competition. (I made the name up, I know it's wired)
Here is a video of robots competing each other:
I won the championship of this game with 39 first round and 38 at final:
